Biological Safety
Responsibility for biohazards, recombinant DNA and chemical carcinogen control at Virginia Commonwealth University exists at all supervisory levels, with the key responsibility resting on the principal investigators and first-line supervisors. These individuals are also responsible for insuring that adequate precautions are taken for protecting all employees and the surrounding community from any hazardous agents being studied or being used in investigations. The Office of Environmental Health & Safety (OEHS) provides advisory assistance to personnel at all levels in meeting these responsibilities for biohazard and chemical carcinogen control.
