Procedure for Obtaining Approval to Use Radioactive Materials or Radiation-Producing Devices for Non-Human Use

Before radioactive materials or radiation-producing devices may be employed for non-human use, the following procedures must be performed:
 

  • Obtain proper authorization form(s) from the Radiation Safety Section or from our web site (see "Forms").

  •  
  • Review appropriate regulations as required on application forms (see "Regulations").

  •  
  • Type, sign and date all form(s).  For new uses of radioactive material, a Personnel Profile Form (see "Forms") must also be completed.  Refer to "Guidelines for Training and/or Experience for Non-Human Use Investigators".

  •  
  • Return the completed form(s) to the Radiation Safety Section for review.  The investigator will be notified of their approval within 2-10 working days, depending on the type and complexity of the requested authorization.
