(42) Bacterial meningitis: This shows the characteristic gross appearance of purulent meningitis. In addition to copious exudate, note severe vascular congestion and thrombosis of venous sinuses. The latter is a serious complication of suppurative meningitis.

(43) Alzheimer's Disease. Typical senile plaques with central core and degenerating swollen neurites around it. Note many neurofibrillary tangles.
