Click to download Application (pdf) Mail application to: The Molecular Diagnostics Laboratory is located on the MCV Campus of Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, VA. VCU has an 850-bed teaching and research hospital. The Molecular Diagnostics Lab, in the Clinical Support Center, has been accredited for Molecular Pathology by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) since 1995, and for human identity database testing by the National Forensic Science Technology Center (NFSTC) since 1998. This practicum is being presented by the Molecular Diagnostics Division of the Department of Pathology and the School of Medicine. There are many hotels in the city of Richmond and its suburbs, usually a 20 minute drive from campus. Their rates vary. Car rentals are available from several locations at the airport. More detailed information will be sent at your request. VCU/MCV Campus is located in the heart of Historic Richmond. The Edgar Allen Poe House and St Johns Church, where Patrick Henry delivered his "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" speech are located within a mile of the Clinical Support Center. The White House and Museum of the Confederacy are adjacent to the main hospital. The Virginia Museum houses a large collection of Faberge Eggs. Washington DC, with its many museums and historic sites, is only 90 miles north of Richmond. Potomac Mills Shopping Outlet is a 60 mile drive. Paramount's Kings Dominion is 20 miles away. Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, and the Williamsburg Pottery are an hour's drive to the east. Virginia Beach is only 30 miles beyond Williamsburg. To the West are Charlottesville and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Along the parkway you can find scenic overlooks and campsites. Richmond also has 2 ski areas within a leisurely 3 hour drive.
