Dr. Enrique Gerszten was selected as the 2008 recipient for the VCU School of Medicine Faculty Teaching Excellence Award. Click here to read the nomination letter. Also, seven other Pathology faculty members (Dr. Ben-Ezra, Dr. Contos, Dr. Ghatak, Dr. Martin, Dr. Grimes, Dr. McPherson and Dr. Massey) were selected for their superior teaching. School of Medicine's 10th Annual Faculty Excellence Awards Program will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 12pm in the Medical Sciences Building Auditorium. Read more...

The Science Museum of Virginia has announced their Mini Medical School focus for Fall 2008: "From Symptoms to Treatment:
The Evolving Role of the Clinical Pathology Laboratory." This session is administered by Eugene G. Maurakis, PhD, Director of Science Education and Museum Scientist, Science Museum of Virginia; David S. Wilkinson, MD, PhD, Professor and Chairman, and Joy L. | The Virginia Commonwealth University
(VCU) Department of Pathology offers the following Educational Programs:
Graduate Programs, Fellowship Programs, Resident Programs, and Undergraduate
Medical School education. The Department also offers the following Research Laboratory
Programs: cellular and molecular pathogenesis, oncogenomics and proteomics,
molecular diagnostics, paleopathology, telomerase,
aging and cancer. Clinical Laboratory Services include: clinical
and anatomic pathology, and molecular diagnostic labs, as well as transfusion
medicine, including a blood bank. These labs offer testing in molecular diagnostics,
cytogenetics, coagulation/hemostasis, microbiology/ immunology,
chemistry and toxicology, forensic toxicology, autopsy, cytopathology, neuropathology, and surgical pathology including renal and dermatopathology. |
