Ms. Hotchkiss is an alumnus of this program and was in a group clinical practice in Columbia, South Carolina prior to joining the VCU faculty in 1993.
She is the Director of the Department of Nurse Anesthesias "Center for Research in Human Simulation". She coordinates and runs courses in the Center for both VCU and outside agencies interested in incorporating medical/physiologic simulation into education.
She is the Course Coordinator for several "Principles & Practice of Nurse Anesthesia" courses and a frequent guest lecturer in other Nurse Anesthesia and Pharmacology courses.
Her research interests are in simulation and alternative airway management. She also has an interest in the prehospital environment and works with area EMS organizations and leaders to assist in training their personnel in airway management skills.
