nQuery AdvisorŪ for Windows
VCU has obtained a site license for nQuery Advisor® for Windows from Statistical Solutions. Free nQuery Advisor® licenses for on campus use are available to VCU faculty, staff and students as a service provided by Technology Services. nQuery Advisor licenses must be renewed annually.
What is nQuery Advisor®?
nQuery Advisor® is the industry standard for Sample Size and Power determination. Determination of the appropriate sample size is a crucial part of study design. If a study is too small it may produce inconclusive results. At the same time we cannot waste scarce resources on a study which is too large. nQuery Advisor® helps you find to the most efficient sample size.
In addition to assisting you in choosing the appropriate sample size for your research studies nQuery Advisor® helps you to specify the standard deviation and effect sizes which you need to make sample size and power computations.
The user-friendly interface makes data entry simple, and the inclusion of explanatory cards alongside the entry table does much to aid the new user in understanding what is needed. By studying sections of the manual and practicing on actual data, the research scientist will find much of value in the study of experimental design. The statistician will be able to perform many routine analyses and estimates quickly without the necessity of hand calculation for intermediate steps.
Note: nQuery Advisor is may be installed under Microsoft VISTA by a login as an Adminstrator who has full permissions to access the registry.
nQuery Advisor obtained under the VCU site license can be used:
1. On the App2Go Citrix Server for researchers:
VCU researchers can access nQuery Advisor via the App2Go Citrix Server.
When you use nQuery Advisor on the App2Go server, it appears to be running on your PC.
You can open and save files on your PC and print on your PC.Five (5) concurrent use licenses of nQueryAdvisor are available for on campus use by VCU
researchers on the App2Go Citrix Server.
2. By downloading nQuery Advisor and installing it on your PC:To download nQuery Advisor®
After download, installation instructions including a license key are e-mailed to your VCU e-mail address.
Annual License Renewal:
nQuery Advisor® licenses for existing installations must be renewed annually.
(Licenses expire annually on May 31st.)
